Friday Finds

- Your week in trailers: Comic Con was this week so we have A MILLION awesome-looking things. The Ash Vs. The Evil Dead series has totally got me hooked. Suicide Squad looks terrific and another total vehicle for Margot Robbie. The new Vixen series also looks terrific. I hate to say it too, but I think I'll be watching the new Heroes series again (despite how bad the original got in the end). On a totally different tone, Brooklyn looks lovely, as does Joy. I'm also ridiculously excited for this documentary on Floyd Norman, the first African American animator at Disney.

- Hayao Miyazaki is making a computer animated short film! I can't wait to see it.

- How cool are these illustrations of the Scooby Doo cast through the ages? I think the 1920s look might be my favourite!

- This infographic of fictional highschools is amazing too!

- I know it'll probably be awful, but I can't help but be excited for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Regency ladies! Monster slaying! It's basically covering my bases.

- Our first look at Princess Leia in The Force Awakens! Be still my beating heart!

- Speaking of first looks, I am getting SO PUMPED for Ghostbusters.

Your week in trailers: Bridge of Spies looks like a return to form for Spielberg, Creep looks spooky and awesome (although I am pretty partial to Mark Duplass). The Martian has a stellar cast and a compelling premise. Zootopia looks pretty cute. My weekend's going to be pretty much a write off with the new season of Orange is the New Black dropping.

- These moose chilling under a sprinkler is the best.

- Hulu saved The Mindy Project! Huzzah!!

- These photos of New York in the 1960s are beautiful and fascinating.

- I need allll of these Star Wars undies.

- These dolls made to represent girls with disabilities are wonderful.

- This graphic guide to cemetery symbolism is fascinating. 

- This baby lemur taking a leap of faith is leaving hearts in my eyes too.

- Which badass Marvel lady are you? I got Natasha Romanoff.

- Some beautiful Disney concept art worth the look too.

It's mother's day this weekend! My mother is leaving town only a few days (if it was possible to do a sad exclamation mark, it would be here.) We're spending Sunday together along with my sister which should make for a pretty fun day though.

- The Secret of Kells and Song of the Sea are two of my favourite animated movies, so it's awesome to see the creative team developing a series, Ellie the Ace.

- The Star Wars Vanity Fair spread is pretty terrific too.

- Harry Potter gifts! I'll take five of everything pls.

Just a short one tonight while I generally obsess over the new Star Wars trailer. I go on and off JJ Abrams, but I am tentatively hopeful about this one. Anywho, your Friday Finds:

- I'm a big fan of Blank on Blank generally, but this Dolly Parton one is particularly charming.

- This nursing cat is giving me a lot of emotions.

- The top 10 indie horror movies on Netflix. I've seen most of these, but there are a couple to add still!

- A comprehensive Wes Anderson playlist for your weekend.

- this piece on the history of Cinderella from folklore to pop culture is fascinating and really funny.

- How Nicole Perlman became the first woman to write a Marvel movie. Also, I'm totally seeing Guardians of the Galaxy tomorrow night! I am excite!

- The first trailer for Mad Max: Fury Road is pretty damn awesome. As is the Into the Woods one.

- First look at Leia in the new Star Wars comic! 

- Weird Al Yankovic's Word Crimes has been my jam all week too.

Also, I've been shortlisted for the 2014 Writers Victoria Templeberg Residential Writing Fellowship in Sri Lanka! I'm in pretty awesome company, so it's amazing to even be shortlisted!
